THE LCD display has a defect most likely. The chips that run along the edge of the screen, that produce your display, one of them has gone bad. So instead of getting a good display, it has electronically failed. Sadly there usually is no cure for this, other than replacing the LCD part of the display or the entire display, whichever is cheaper.
