I will suggest them to buy drought resistant seeds of plants
plant crops like jowar bajra etc that need less water

In this case for better cropping, I will suggest farmers to practice low water usage process like
Drip irrigation - In this process drops of water slowly provide watwr to plants without wastage
Rainwater harvesting- In this process storage of rainwater and its uses are carried out.
