Without atmosphere means no life as there will be no oxygen blanket (compositional gas of atm gases) which is essential for earth's organisms to thrive on the planet earth.
You will be directly exposed to harmful UV/IR rays of the Sun. Hence, Surface Temp. of earth will erose too high at direct exposure of sun, first submergence of all continents then evaporation of water bodies....
But, in earlier times of earth when nothing was there ,our atmosphere was formed by cyanobacteria which used to do photosynthesis....contributed lowering of earth temp. with time, led suitable conditions for more photosynthetic organisms to grow and add more oxygen to atmosphere. Hence, we are at this stage.
But, if you are asking no atmosphere then no life.
If atmosphere will be not there then the life would not be supported On the earth ....
