Answer: for various purposes. River water is stored in dams with the force of water turbines are moved and electricity is produced. We use the electricity for various purposes to make our life comfortable. After producing electricity the same water is used for irrigation. By irrigating land we get food to eat, clothes to wear , etc. The dam water is used for rearing fish . The dam and the water stored in dams are used for various multipurpose. Imagine life on earth without water , all flora and fauna even human being would die. life will totally disappear on earth.
