Methane is very essential in trapping suns heat and thus maintaining the temperature of earth . If there was no methane gas then the amount of heat escaping will considerably increase and thus it may result in variation in the temperature. This has an adverse effects on the organisms which are very weak or delicate against temperature variation .
When methane gas disappears it isn’t necessary all organisms will some may still survive if they have the ability to sustain the changes in the temperature .Even in absence of methane carbondoixide and other gas also play an important role in trapping the heat
Hence overall some can die because of temperature variation but will also survive
Hope this helped u :-)
