it is not said that there was nothing before big bang , we say that we don't know what was before big bang . at the instance of big bang the universe as we know it , was smaller than an atom and all matter was present in it in the form of compressed and hot form , according to the laws od thermodynamics that smaller than atom part would have been a very hot and dense object , and after something (we don't know what ) ignited it , it burst open into our beautiful universe and had been expanding since then

hope this helps

Albert01: Time defined as, "the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole." Therefore, time depends on existence and events. While existence is the fact or state having objective reality; reality is the world or the state of things as they actually exist; and event is a thing that happens. Time is considered meaningless if there is no existence or event
Albert01: Among, gravity, mass, distance, speed, light, heat, space, energy, particle, wave, atom, matter, expansion etc, either they have existence or else considered as event. Therefore, since time is dependant on existence and event, any changes either among the gravity, mass, distance, speed, light, heat, space, energy, particle, wave, atom, matter, expansion etc
Albert01: there was if any event then there would be time
Albert01: big bang was just a quantum flactutation
Albert01: well the only answer is that it is meaningless question in scientific purview .simply if there is anything significant to this quest is the existence and events.
Albert01: so the begining of time it self
Albert01: anything even a cause or trigger would become meaningless in the absence of time
Albert01: hope it will clear u

Answer:

Good point. Matter must exist in order for the Big Bang to occur. It simply cannot take place in vacuum. Where did matter came from? We have no answer unless you believe that a power outside of matter, time and space created it... which is God. Many scientists tend to assume that the universe always existed.
