Value of resistors :

R1 = 6 Ω

R2 = 7 Ω

R3 = 8 Ω

Potential difference, V = 10 V

Given that the connection is series .

The equivalent resistance in series is given by the sum of all resistances . Therefore,

R = R1 + R2 + R3

R = (6 + 7 + 8) Ω

R = 21 Ω

Now , the equivalent resistance R = 21 Ω .

We have to find current through each resistor . Current through each resistor in series remains the same as that through the equivalent resistance.

By Ohm's law ,

V = IR

10 = I × 21

I = 10/21

I = 0.48 A (approx)

Highlights:

• In series connection, the electric current remains the same .

• In parallel connection , potential difference remains the same .

• The reciprocal of equivalent resistance in parallel is equal to the sum of reciprocals of all resistances.
