Answer :

  • The smallest side of the triangle is " x " [ 3cm ]

Step-by-step explanation ::

To Find :-

  • The smallest side of triangle

Solution :-

Given that,

  • The three sides of a triangle are x, 2x and 3x - 1
  • The perimeter of triangle = 17 cm

As we know that,

Perimeter of triangle = Sum of all sides of traingle

( x ) + ( 2x ) + ( 3x - 1 ) = 17cm ... [ Given ]

x + 2x + 3x - 1 = 17

➟ 3x + 3x - 1 = 17

➟ 6x - 1 = 17

➟ 6x = 17 + 1

➟ 6x = 18

➟ x = 18/6

➟ x = 3

The value of x is 3.

Now, the sides of the triangle are ::-

The measure of side " x "

➟ x = 3cm

The measure of side " 2x "

➟ 2*3 = 6cm

The measure of side " 3x - 1 "

➟ 3*3 - 1 = 9 - 1 = 8cm

According the question,

  • The smallest side of the triangle is side " x " or 3cm.

Now, Verification

x + 2x + 3x - 1 = 17

➟ 3 + 2*3 + 3*3 - 1 = 17

➟ 3 + 6 + 9 - 1 = 17

➟ 9 + 9 - 1 = 17

➟ 18 - 1 = 17

17 = 17

L.HS. = R.H.S

Hence, Verified !
