tn = 3n -4 ( given)

Substituting n= 1

T1= 3x1–4

= 3–4 = -1

Substituting n=2

T2= 3x2- 4

= 6–4 = 2

Give n=5 in the general term

T 5=3(5)-7 = 15–7 =8

Another method

Tn = 3n - 7

T 1 = 3(1)-7 = -4

T 2 = 3(2) -7= -1

d= t 2 - t 1 = -1 -(-4)=3

a = -4 d=3

Tn = a + (n-1)d =
