If to 2x + 3y = 12 and 3x - 2y = 5 , then what is the value of x and why

2x+3y= 12......(i)

3x−2y=5........(ii)

multiplying (i) by 2 and (ii) by 3 we get,

4x+6y=24.........(iii)

9x−6y = 15.......(iv)

Adding (iii) and (iv),

13x=39

x=3,y=2
