Answer:
Assume Tom = T, Joe = J & Mary = M
Then according to the first part of question
J = 3T ,
Now for second part of question -
T = 4 times Mary ie 4M
Then J = 3 × 4M ie 12 M.
Now the total of all three given in question is 153.
So equation becomes-
J + T + M = 153,
12M + 4M + M = 153,
17M = 153,
M = 153/17 = 9.
Now J is 12M
So J = 12 × 9 = 108.
And T = 4M, So T = 4 × 9 = 36.
Hence the Answers are,
Joe = 108,
Tom = 36,
Mary = 9.
