Answer:

Son's age = 10

Father's age = 36

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the son's age be x and father's age be y.

ATQ

2x + y = 56 - equation 1

2y + x = 82 or x + 2y = 82 - equation 2

By using substitution method:

From equation 1, y = 56 - 2x

Substituting the value of y from equation 1 in equation 2:

x + 2(56 - 2x) = 82

x + 112 - 4x = 82

-3x + 112 = 82

-3x = 82 - 112

-3x = -30

x = -30/-3

x = 10

Son's age = 10

Father's age = 56 - 2*10 = 56 - 20 = 36

Step-by-step explanation:

  • let age of son=x
  • age of father=56-2x

a/q

  • 2(56-2x)+x=82
  • 112-4x+x=82
  • -3x=-30
  • x=10

hence, son age=10years

father age=56-20=36years
