Let the age of son be x and age of father be y.

Given 2x + y = 56

x + 2y = 82

On solving (1) and (2), we get

2x + y - 2x - 4y = 56 - 164

-3y = -108

y = 36.

Substitute y in any above equations, we get

2x + 36 = 56

2x = 20

x = 10

The age of the father is 36 and the age of son is 10 years.
