if twicevthe greater of two no. 20 is subtract the result is other and if twice the smaller of two no. 5is subtract the result is greater

let

the large number = x

    smaller number = y

according to the question,

2x -20 = y.................................(1) ⇒ 2x -y = 20...............(3)

2y - 5= x...................................(2) ⇒ -x +2y = 5...............(4)

(4) ×2 = -2x + 4y = 15.......................................................(5)

solving (3) & (5),

3 y = 15

⇒ y = 5

substitute y = 5 in (3)

we get,

2x - 5 = 20

2x = 20+5

2x = 25

 x = 25/2

    = 14.5

therefore, the numbers are 14.5( greater ) ,5 (smaller)
