The measurement of the larger angle = 120°

Given :

Two angles are supplementary and one angle is double the other

To find :

The measurement of the larger angle

Solution :

Step 1 of 2 :

Form the equation

Let smaller angle = x

Then larger angle = 2x

We know that two angles are said to be supplementary if sum of the angles = 180°

So by the given condition

x + 2x = 180°

Step 2 of 2 :

Find the angles

x + 2x = 180°

⇒ 3x = 180°

⇒ x = 180°/3

⇒ x = 60°

The smaller angle = x = 60°

The larger angle = 2x = 2 × 60° = 120°
