Answer:

Ans :::25 watt bulb will fuse first....

Explanation:

The answer is 25 Watts bulb will fuse earlier than the 100 Watts bulb.

Why?

Resistance= Voltage^2 / Power

As we see both the bulbs has a voltage rating is 220 Volts. , hence voltage remains constant in both the cases.

Now, the bulb which has lower power rating will have higher resistance.

But,

1. As per the question both the bulbs are connected in series. Hence, both the resistances will add into one.

2. In series connection, the equipment with higher resistance have to bear more Voltage. So, the 25Watts bulb will fuse first.

Let's Calculate:

Resistance Calculation:

R-25= 220^2/25=1936 Ohms.

R-100= 220^2/100 = 484 Ohms.

Both bulb are in series, hence total resistance=1936+484=2420 Ohms.

As we know Voltage=Current*Resistance

Current Calculation:

For 440 V, current is:

440 V/ 2420 Ohms = 0.1818 Amperes.

Voltage Calulation:

the Voltage across 25 W bulb will be:

Current * Resistance of 25 watt bulb

= 0.1818*1936 = 352 Volts.

Voltage across 100 W bulb will be

Current * Resistance of 100 Watts bulb

= 0.1818*484 = 88 Volts.

As per the above calculation, You can see the 25 Watts bulb will fuse because it will experience a very high amount of voltage, however, 100 Watts bulb will not fuse and it'll glow with low intensity.

Thanks for your patience.
