The distance between their centers O and C is 5 cm.

Given:

Two circles of center O and C will have radii of 2cm and 3cm

The given circles are touched externally

To find:

What is the distance between their centers e

Solution:

Formula used:

When two circles with two radii r₁ and r₂ are touched externally, then the distance between the centers is equal to the sum of the radii.

=> Distance between two centers = r₁ + r₂

Here we have

The radius of the small circle, r₁ = 2 cm

The radius of the large circle, r₂ = 3 cm

The distance between their centers O and C = r₁ + r₂

= 2 cm + 3 cm

= 5 cm

Therefore,

The distance between their centers O and C is 5 cm.
