Given : A = 3.0 m ± 0.3 m and B = 9.0 m ± 0.6 m

To Find :     (AB)^{\frac{1}{3} }

Solution:

(AB)^{\frac{1}{3} }   = ∛AB

A  = 3.0   ± 0.3

B = 9.0 m ± 0.6 m

∛AB  =  ∛( 3.0 * 9.0)  = 3.0

Δ∛AB  / AB  = (1/3) ( ΔA/A  + ΔB/B)

Δ∛AB  / 3  = (1/3) (  0.3/3.0 + 0.6/9.0)

Δ∛AB  / 3  = (1/3) (  0.1  + 0.067)

Δ∛AB =  0.167

3.0  ± 0.167
