question:-

if two numbers are in ratio 3:7 and their sum is 149, find the numbers.

AnsWer :-

42, 98

let the number be X

so,

3:7 will be 3x and 7x

now find the two numbers?

 =  \geqslant 3x + 7x = 140

 =  \geqslant 10x = 140

 =  \geqslant x =  \frac{140}{10}

 =  \geqslant x = 14

hence the two numbers will be :

  • 1st = 3 × 14 = 42
  • 2nd = 7 × 14 = 98
