The condition in the question say

a =  {x}^{4}  {y}^{3}  \\ so \\ a = x \times x \times x \times x \times y \times y \times y \\ also \\ b = x \times x \times x \times x \times x \times x \times x \times y \times z \times  \\ z \times z \times z

So

HCF=Common factor, least power

i.e. HCF(a,b)=x^4×y

Similarly

LCM=All factor, most power

i.e. LCM(a,b)=x^7y^3z^4
