total resistance when connected in parallel =

1/(1/5+1/10) = 10/3 and current = 6/(10/3)=18/10

= 1.8 amp

total resistance when connected in series=

5+10 = 15 and current will be =6/15 = 2/5 = 0.4 amp Ans
