Step-by-step explanation:

Given:-

In ∆ PQR , PQ = 6 cm, QR = 6cm

To find:-

Find the third side of the given triangle?

Solution:-

Given triangle is PQR

Right angle is at angle Q

angle Q = 90°

∆PQR is a right angled triangle

PQ = 6 cm

QR = 6 cm

We know that

Pythagoras theorem: In a right angled triangle The sum of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.

=>PR^2 = PQ^2+QR^2

=>PR^2 = 6^2+6^2

=>PR^2 = 36+36

=>PR^2 = 72

=>PR = √72

=>PR = √(36×2)

=>PR = 6√2 cm

we know that √2=1.414

PR = 6×1.414 cm

PR = 8.484 cm

PR = 8.5 cm (approximately)

(correct it to one decimal)

Answer:-

The third side of the given triangle is 6√2 cm or 8.5cm

Used formula:-

Pythagoras theorem:

In a right angled triangle The sum of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.
