If two solar cells are connected in series the potential difference obtained from this combination is addition of

the potential differences of the individual solar cells.

When solar cells are connected in a series, the potential difference of individual cells are added in the combination, however the currents from individual cells are not added. ... In such manner we can get the required amount of energy by connecting solar panels.
