lets assume initial price is 100 rs.
after 20% discount new price = 80rs.
now 30 % discount new price = 56 rs.
so in total you got 44% discount.

The net discount is 44 percent(%).

Step-by-step explanation:

Let initial price = Rs.100

To find, net discount (in %) = ?

1st discount = 20 % of 100 =\dfrac{20}{100}  \times 100 = 20

∴ After Discount = 100 -20 = Rs. 80

2nd discount = 30% of 80 =\dfrac{30}{100} \times 80= 24

After Discount = 80 - 24 = 56

Over all Discount = 100 - 54 = 44

Overall Discount ( in %)

= \dfrac{Overall discount}{Initial discount} × 100

=\dfrac{44}{100} \times 100

= 44 %

Hence, the net discount is 44 percent(%).
