A(∆1)/A(∆2) = b1/ b2. (Triangles corresponding to their bases)

7/3 = 4/ b2

3 x 4/ 7 = b2

b2 = 12/7

b2 = 1.7 cm

The base of the smaller triangle is 1.7 cm
