Answer:

let

length=x

width=y

perimeter=2(l+b)=2(x+y)=70

(x+y)=35

y=35-x ......(i) [width in terms of length]

x*y=300

y=300/x ......(ii)

from (i) nd (ii) we get,

35-x=300/x

35x-x^2-300=0

x^2-35x+300=0

x^2-15x-20x+300=0

x(x-15)-20(x-15)=0

(x-15)(x-20)=0

x=15

x=20

Step-by-step explanation:

given: L=x cm

2×(L+B)=70

L+B=35

x+B=35

B=35-x

now,

area of a rectangle =L×B=300cm²

=>(x)×(35-x)=300

=>35x-x²=300

=> x²-35x+300=0

=>x²-20x-15x+300=0

=>x(x-20)-15(x-20)=0

=>(x-20)(x-15)=0

=>x=20 , 15

therefore,

if L=x=20cm ,then B=35-×=15cm

& if,L=×=15cm, thenB=35-×=20cm
