Perhaps you aren’t comprehending exactly how big our galaxy is. It’s really big. Really really big. No, I mean really really really big.

The only place outside of Earth that man has set foot on is the Moon.

The only other planet we’ve landed on, Mars, is over 500 times farther than that.

Getting out of the Solar System would require going about 10,000 times farther than the Moon.

Our nearest star, Alpha Centauri, is about 100 million times farther.

And even with that, we haven’t even moved a blip in terms of our Galaxy. Getting anywhere substantial would be about a thousand times farther than Alpha Cen.

Bottom line: Getting out of our Galaxy would require going about 1 trillion times farther than any human has ever gone before.

And frankly, what we’d find out there is pretty much just empty space. Really empty space. No, I mean really really empty space. Not actually all that interesting.
