Here let u be the object distance and f be the focus.

Then the object would be placed at the focus of the mirror or the lens.

In case of concave mirror - The image would be behind the centre of curvature

In case of convex mirror. - Between focus and pole on the rear side of the mirror.

In case of convex lens - Image would be behind the centre of curvature on the other side of the lens

In case of concave lens - Image would be virtual on the same size and between focus and pole.
