if u draw a map for this, then it's forming a right angle triangle. where 6km traveling to East is the base and 8km to the north is the perpendicular.

the hypotenuse will be the displacement.

so by Pythagoras theorem,

➡ h² = b² + p²

➡ h² = 6² + 8²

➡ h² = 36 + 64

➡ h² = 100

➡ h = √100
