If u open a water tap SLIGHTLY so that a fine narrow stream flows down, two distinctive regions can be seen.
The upper region consists of smooth water flow while the bottom part is rough and unsmooth water flow region.
Why so?

this happens because at the initial stage the water has full energy (the pressure created by the closed water on it) but as it moves down due to gravity it losses its energy and the twisting force acts on it (torque) making the lower part rough
