Given,
Father's age is same as mother's with digits reversed
Let father's age = 10a + b
Mother's age = 10b + a
Sum = 99
10a + b + 10b + a = 99
11(a+b) = 99
(a+b) = 9...(i)
So sum of digits = 9
Possible combinations (8,1), (7,2), (6,3), (5,4).
Now the conditions:
Age of father + Reverse of age of father = 99
Difference between their ages = 9
First condition is satisfied for every combination. But second condition is satisfied only for the combination (5,4).
Hence father's age = 54
