This question is based on the story Swami and Friends written by R.K. Narayan. Swami's displeasure is based on the fact that his father's courts closed during the second week of May and that would mean that his father would be at home during the afternoons.

This means he is constantly under the supervision of his father who looks down at Swami's activities with his friends Rajam and Mani.

His father also continuously nags him about reading books or keeping his things in order.

He is also discouraged vigorously from participating in any kind of sports or games.
