if vapour of ammonia gas are brought in contact with red litmus strip, what will happen to the colour of the litmus strip ​

it is seen that NH3 doesn't have any ion,so it is unable to change the color of litmus. On the other hand when NH3 reacts with water,NH4OH(ammonium hydroxide) is formed which is a base and it contains NH4+ ion and OH- ion. Since basic ion is present,hence it changes the red litmus paper blue.
