if velocity can be negative then why momentum is always positive?

prekshamehta: hey tell me if u get the ans

my frend because p=mv
if m is negative so -mx-v=mv

we know that p=mv
if v is in negative its shows that is it moving in opposite direction and hence the direction of momentum is also negative
