because it changed direction at every point
and if it is in a free fall then at the max hight the velocity will be zero and acelleration will be 10m/s^2

no. if velocity is zero it doesnt mean acceleration is zero.. suppose u throw a stone up in air. at maximum height the stone will stop which means.. it velocity is 0 bt it has acceleration=g by which it get down to earth
