If the velocity of a body is halved, its kinetic energy becomes one fourth as kinetic energy is directly proportional to velocity squared.

We know the formula:

\boxed{\sf{K.E. = \frac{1}{2} mv^{2} }}\\

now, the velocity becomes ½:-

\sf{ \frac{1}{2} m(\frac{v}{2})^{2} }\\

\sf{\frac{1}{4} (\frac{1}{2} mv^{2} ) = \frac{1}{4} (K.E.) }\\

Thus, the Kinetic Energy becomes ¼.
