Explanation:

Given that

The velocity of block B= 300 mm/s

And we have to find the velocity of block A

Lets take

Block A moves by distance x ,then rope 1 will move by x ,rope 2 will move by x and rope 3 as well move by x.So the total distance move by rope 1,2 and 3 is 3x.

The rope 4 is fixed to it can not move.

From above we can say that the total distance move by block B is 3x/2.

So the velocity of B

V=\dfrac{3}{2}\dfrac{dx}{dt}

\dfrac{dx}{dt}=200 \frac{mm}{s}

So the velocity of block A

U=3\dfrac{dx}{dt}

U=600 mm/s
