If velocity of boat as seen from the ground is 5î+6j and velocity of river is 2î then calculate velocity of boat with respect to river :-​

Let's reperent velocity of boat with respect to river by x .

Let's reperent velocity of boat with respect to ground by y .

Let's represent velocity of river with respect to ground as z .

Clearly , y = 5i + 6j

And , z = 2i

x = ?

We know that ,

x = y – z ( Note : here the y – z is vector difference not the algebraic difference )

x = 5i + 6j – 2i

x = 3i + 6j

Hence , the velocity of boat is 3i + 6j
