villi are meant for absorption of food into blood..
if they're absent .....the food will not absorb in blood ...leads to less energy..... weakness..... ultimately death...

if villis are absent in small intestine, the food absorption will not happen smoothly. The most significant work of the small intestine is that it absorbs food nutrients that pass through it.
The villis that are there in the small intestine are protruding epithelial cells that improve the surface area in a nice way. A large surface area helps in an efficient absorption of nutrients.
The efficiency is further increased because each cell of the villi has microvilli on the surface.
If the small intestine is completely smooth, there will be little chance for nutrients absorption. It can quickly lead to a shortage of nutrients irrespective of how much food we consume.
