Solution:

Let us assume their income be 100

Vinita spent $\frac{7}{8}$ of her income

Therefore,

$\frac{7}{8}$  of 100 = 87.5

Monica spent $\frac{5}{7}$ of her income

 $\frac{5}{7}$ of 100 =71.43

87.5 > 71.43

Therefore,

Vinita spent greater share of her income.
