ANSWER

Water can be purified by filtration , but it will only remove bigger particles which remain undissolved in water. Distillation is used to purify water as to remove some dissolved impurities in water which are impossible to be removed by filtration.

Answer:

Distillation is most effective in removing inorganic compounds such as metals (iron and lead) and nitrate; hardness (calcium and magnesium);

Distillation is a water purification method that utilizes heat to collect pure water in the form of vapor. This method is effective by the scientific fact that water has a lower boiling point than other contaminants and disease-causing elements found in water. ... This vapor is directed into a condenser to cool. particulates from a contaminated water supply. The boiling process also kills microorganisms such as bacteria and some viruses.
