<b>

Aluminium is a neurotoxin in the body (suspected of causing Alzheimers) so the less we have of it the better off we are. It is amphoteric which means it’s slightly soluble in acidic and alkaline water. Given the opportunity of time, some aluminium will dissolve from the aluminium utensil which will render the water slightly toxic.

Stainless steel utensils are to be preferred as that material does not leach into water. Aluminium utensils are also to be avoided to cook any acidic substances such as fruit or rhubarb, as they will dissolve far more aluminium that if it was plain water.
