You are a human, being a highly civilised species of this planet, you're expected to act better than the apes. You have to keep a good balance between the two, if you go for money solely, then you'll miss to LIVE in the one life you have got, on the contrary, if you go for living a life whole heartedly, you'll miss the chance to make money and won't survive in this world. Choosing either ain't a good choice, so get it out of your system, not all choices are hard-bitten, keep a balance of both as long as you can, for the thing that you really can't balance here is time, and a lifetime.
