If we buy a home theater, it is shown that it has 1000 or 600 etc watts. Why in watts and why not in decibels ?

It is shown so because decibels is unit of loudness of sound and when we play music the the volume of music may vary as per requirement of owner. On the other hand Watt is unit of power consumption of home theater and it is necessary for owner to know how much the power does the home theater consumes. Therefore it is shown in Watts not in decibels.
