If we fill an electric bulb with oxygen what will happen ?

Answer :-

Usually , there is neon gas filled in an electric bulb.

This is particularly because neon is inert in nature and it does not start any chemical reaction within the bulb.

But if the bulb is filled with oxygen gas these may happen :

We know that oxygen is flammable and is a supporter of combustion.

Hence this is very dangerous as the temperature of the bulb gets very high due to the heating effect of current of the bulb given by the formula H = I²Rt where I is the current , R is the resistance and t is the time .

Under these circumstances if oxygen gas is kept in the bulb then the bulb would simply explode .

There could be massive accidents and an electric fire as soon as the bulb would explode.

Hence using oxygen in bulbs is a bad idea .
