First, lets see the difference between a petrol engine and a diesel engine.
1: A petrol engine has a spark plug that creates spark and thus ignites the petrol that has evaporated and mixed with air inside engine.
2: A diesel engine doesn't has any spark plug. The piston of the engine compresses the diesel so much that the diesel catches fire due to heat generated during compression.
What happens when diesel is poured in petrol car. The diesel will get injected into the engine, but it will not get ignited because the diesel doesn't evaporates the way petrol does to mix with air.
If such an incidence occurs, drain out all the diesel. Crank your engine a few times, so that all the traces of diesel are purged out. And I hope you will be good to go....after filling petrol of course!!!!
