If we gradually increase the angle of incidence of a ray of light passing through prism then ----

Angle of deviation increases but after certain value of incident angle deviation angle decreases(d).

The point at which the angle of deviation becomes the lowest is known as the angle of minimum deviation.

When incident ray of light strikes the surface of a prism, it gets deflected which is dependent on many factors such as:

Angle of incidence, Angle of the prism, Refractive index of the prism.
