Thermoplastic materials melt under high temperatures and solidify when cooled. Since electric current generates high temperatures, these materials would melt and on cooling, would not regain initial shape or design. This would cause flaws in their functioning. For example, if the switch has ports for plugging in, they might be blocked during the melting and the cooling.

Answer:
suppose if electric switches are made by thermoplastics it is a good conductor of heat when these are heated they lost their shape. So the electric equipment will be destroyed and may lead to electric shock.Because of this reason generally electric switches and plug boards are made from Bakelite which is a Thermosetting plastic since it is a bad conductor of electricity and is resistant to heat.
