Strontium chloride and HCl when made into a paste and is made to come in contact with non luminous flame produces red colour.

1) This is a flame test for Strontium element.

2) The flame has to be non luminous flame or else the red colour will not be observed.

3) Non luminous flame is the flame that is blue in colour and is fully oxidised.

4) HCl is used to convert metals into metallic chlorides.
