Andrew Clements once said, "Fear doesn't need door and windows. It works from inside." Fear is something which cripples our rationality and our very being. The narrator having a painful memory could not handle his fear of water. It crippled him every time he wanted to swim. Yet he understood what his fear of water was doing to him. So gradually he started to control it. He took lessons and slowly and steadily took control over his fear. In the same way if we fight our fears, it will no longer rule us.
